- Do not put Snappalm in a dishwasher.
- Avoid exposing the material to direct, high heat.
How to use it
Close the lid gently when Snappalm is on — never force it shut, or remove Snappalm before closing if you prefer.
Screen protection and the trade-off
Every MacBook shares the same issue: closing the lid presses the keys into the screen and transfers oil onto the display. Over time, that buildup creates the faint "key imprint" pattern that Apple does not warranty.
With Snappalm in place, the keys never touch the screen — the display rests against smooth TPU instead. TPU is oil-resistant and palms transfer less oil than fingertips, and anything that does land wipes away easily with a microfiber cloth. With Snappalm kept on, Snappalm’s testing has shown no damage to the screen or hinge, including when carried in a laptop bag.
Users who prefer to follow Apple's guidance precisely can remove it before closing — it snaps off in seconds.
Apple's guidance
Apple advises removing palm rest, keyboard, and camera covers before closing a Mac notebook, citing the tight clearance between the display and keyboard. In Apple's words: "Leaving any material on your display, keyboard, or palm rest might interfere with the display when it's closed and cause damage… Remove the cover before closing your display to prevent damage to your display."
